  • How early do I need to book my taxi?

    We recommend you book your taxi at least 24 hours in advance if using the online booking form. Our system will calculate the price and you will get the confirmation of your booking via email within 2 hours.

    If you need an immediate pick-up or require a taxi within the next 24 hours, call us on 01279 248387 to ensure availability.

  • What types of payments do you accept?

    We accept card payments for taxi services pre-paid online, or cash when paying the driver directly.

  • Do you offer any discounts?

    We believe it’s fair to offer each of our customers as competitive a rate as possible and that’s why we don’t have any special discount schemes. We don’t charge extra for ‘’peak hours’’, nighttime or public holidays.

  • Do you offer fixed fares?

    You can check our fares very quickly and conveniently using our instant fare calculator and booking tool.

  • Can I cancel my pre-paid booking?

    You can cancel your pre-paid taxi up to 2 hours before the booking and we will refund you in full.

  • Do you provide receipts?

    For prepayments made online you will get a receipt in your booking confirmation email. For payments made in cash after the journey, the driver can issue a receipt on request.

  • Do you charge per passenger or per vehicle?

    All our prices are per vehicle.

  • If I book an airport pick up, where will I find my taxi?

    If you booked a Stansted airport taxi service, your driver will be waiting at Express Set Down -- the express drop off and pick up area where we can wait for up to the maximum of 10 minutes, near the main terminal exit.

    For other airport locations, the pick-up point will be indicated in the confirmation email.

    If you booked a Meet & Greet service, your driver will be waiting in Arrivals with a board bearing the Optim Taxi logo and your name

  • What if my plane is late?

    If you gave us your flight number, we will be able to track the progress of your flight and we will adjust the pickup time accordingly without an extra charge, so for example if you plane was due at 16:00 and you booked your taxi for 17:30, but it actually lands at 17:00, the car will be ready to pick you up at 18:30.

  • How much are airport parking fees?

    Your Stansted taxi quote or prepaid rate includes parking charges covering up to 30 minutes waiting time. If we have to wait longer than that, an extra parking charge will apply at relevant rates.

  • What airports do you serve?

    We serve all London and South-East England airports and ferry terminals.

  • How much do you charge for waiting?

    Our taxis will wait free of charge for 10 minutes before switching on the meter. In case of on-demand bookings, the 10 minutes starts when the taxi arrives. If you pre-booked a taxi for a particular time, the 10 minutes’ free waiting time starts from the booked time.

    After the 10 free minutes, waiting time will be charged at £5 per each 15 minutes for standard cars.

    For pre-booked airport transfers, your quoted price includes 30 minutes waiting time. After this period, waiting time is charged at the above rates.

  • How will I know when my taxi has arrived?

    If you provide us with your mobile phone number, we will send you a text message to confirm your car’s arrival.

  • What kinds of cars do you use?

    Our cars include standard 5-seater saloons, 7-seater MPV's  and executive 5-seater saloons.

  • Are your taxis able to carry wheelchairs?

    We can carry collapsible wheelchairs in all our vehicles. If you need to make a booking for a wheelchair, please advise us at the time of booking.

  • Can you transport a bicycle?

    We can transport up to two bicycles using our MPVs. Please advise us at the time of booking.

  • Can my pet travel with me in one of your taxis?

    Yes, your pet should be able to travel with you, but we require that such information is provided at the time of booking.

  • Do you provide child safety seats?

    According to the UK regulations, a child under 3 years old can travel without a child’s car seat or seat belt in a licensed taxi, provided they travel in the back seat. Children over 3 years old can travel in a taxi without a child’s seat if they wear an adult seat belt.

    However, we have child safety seats/booster seats for all age groups and if you require one for your child’s comfort and your peace of mind, especially on a longer journey, we will provide one. Please advise us of a need for a child seat in advance.

  • How do I recover lost property from one of your taxis?

    If you think you might have left an item in one of our taxis, use the online contact form to describe the item, mentioning the booking reference number or the date and route  of the journey. One of our team will get in touch.
